WHO WE ARE
Watkin Small Business Services is made up of a group of dynamic individuals that work full-time, part-time, and on contract. Our team is comprised of Accountants, Bookkeepers, Information Professionals and Educators. By working with us our team members become members of your team, working towards your financial reporting goals. With our Head Office located in Cobourg we service Toronto, Peterborough, Oshawa, Whitby, Newcastle, Port Hope, Brighton and Trenton with onsite or virtual service and we can service all of Ontario virtually. We now also service businesses in Halifax, along the 101 and the HRM Region (Halifax & surrounding), both onsite and virtually.
Our head office is located in the beautiful county of Northumberland, in the town of Cobourg, just 1 hour east of Toronto.
We are actually going to be moving locations (just down the street) in the New Year in order to be more accessible for all our clients and employees.
Principal Accountant & President
Susan has been working as a finance professional for over 15 years, getting her feet wet in the insurance industry. Since leaving the private sector she has been able to work each day, side-by-side with fellow entrepreneurs and small business owners; getting to be a part of their business journey and an integral part of their team, all the while on her own business journey as well as been very fullfiling. It is exciting, challenging and sometimes stressful…but she wouldn’t have it any other way!
Susan is proud to be a member of the Intuit Accountant’s Council as well as a part of Intuit’s Trainer/Writer Network.
Client Liaison & Administration Lead
Lori has developed an array of management and administrative skills along with many years of customer service. She provides professional yet personable attributes and enjoys the challenge of assisting and contributing to the success of our fast pace and continually growing company.
Manager, Accounting & Taxation
Kimberley has more than 20 years of progressive experience in providing quality accounting and tax services for small businesses. She is proficient in QuickBooks, Sage and Microsoft Office. Kimberley loves tackling the challenging cases of bookkeeping backlog work or finding the root of errors in her clients’ books.
Don has 30+ years of senior level accounting and administrative experience. He has managed many accounting departments as well as had experience in the full administration responsibilities of companies. He has extensive analytical skills in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial statement preparation. He has worked in general accounting for most of his career. Having worked in non for profit, private companies, as well as multi divisional public corporations.
In his spare time, Don is an avid reader and golfer.
Sarah started her professional career in the Business and Finance sector. After 10 years, she decided to make the move to Accounting. She spent the next few years going back to school to obtain her Business Accounting Diploma with honours. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Commerce through UOIT. On a personal side, she loves the outdoors an spends lot of her time hiking, kayaking, swimming, and camping with her family.
Admin & Accounting Interns
Watkin Small Business Services is proud to host students who are completing their studies in Business Administration and Accounting from surrounding universities and colleges. Winter 2014 we were joined by Jeffrey Bokan, a Business Administration – Accounting student from Fleming College in Peterborough ON. Winter 2015 we were joined by Michael Gooding, a Business Administration – Accounting student from Durham College in Oshawa, ON.
Most recently we’ve been pleased to have Duane Wallis working with us, from Fleming College.
